Spearmen

Spearmen form the main defence in an army. Many garrison generals use spearmen to guard their cities from invaders. I like to use them in small groups of around 15 with three rows. Using them like this allows them to use their special rule on fighting with three rows when charged and two when fighting. I prefer to give them heavy armour. Spearmen work best when you get enemy calvary to charge them. The calvary won't destroy much of your unit then you will be able to throw lots of attacks on to them.

Archers

Archers add a good offence from behind. Of course the best place to position them is on a hill so they can shoot over heads. Since they are very vulnerable I equip them with light armour. Giving them longbows allows them to shoot further so they don't have to move for the whole battle. I like to shoot in two rows since it takes up less space. Shoot at troops they don't have a high toughness since the longbow only has a strength of 3.

Lothern Sea Guard

These are good since they take the perpose of spearmen and archers. I usually only field them in armies of 2000 points or higher due to thier high point cost, but they are worth it. When I use them I usually don't have any ordinary spearmen but I use another unit of archers. With the archers behind them the sea guard move foward and fire at the end of each turn. This hail of arrows can usually bring a lot down.
